BREEAM is the world’s most widespread and leading method of environmental impact assessment and certification system for buildings. To date, more than 550’000 buildings are valued and about 2’250’000 are registered in 77 countries around the world.
The BREEAM standard is designed to help building managers, investors, owners and users reduce operating costs and improve the environmental performance of an existing building. This voluntary standard and certification system provides a clear and reliable methodology for improving the sustainability performance of an existing building.
Each assessed category consists of a certain number of credits, and the implementation of the requirements for these credits results in a final grade. Available BREEAM rating levels for building certification: UNCLASIFIED, PASS, GOOD, VERY GOOD, EXCELLENT, and OUTSTANDING.

LEED promotes a sustainable approach to building in the following key areas: sustainable plots, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, quality of the indoor environment, innovation design, regional priority.
